Alvin Franklin Luckey was born on September 29, 1932 in McNeil, Arkansas to the late Dewitt and Artie M. (Jackson) Luckey. Alvin (age 79) departed this life September 22, 2012. He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church-McNeil, Arkansas. He attended and completed McNeil High School-McNeil, Arkansas.
Alvin united in holy matrimony to Lillie Mae Brown, to this union they were blessed with two sons – Alvis and Kenneth. Alvin served in the Armed Forces from 1953 – 1955. He later played for a Chicago, Illinois Minor Baseball League and after 30 years employment, retired from Inland Steel-East Chicago, Indiana. Alvin resided in Gary, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois for many years until his health begin to fail and then he relocated back home to McNeil, Arkansas at his request.
Alvin’s favorite past times were fishing, gardening, watching sports, keeping up with the current events, traveling, and visiting with friends and relatives. He mostly loved talking and never met a stranger. He had a deep and sincere love for his family especially his siblings, children, grandchildren and special friends. He will be remembered for telling the various stories about his life experiences.
He was preceded in death by his former wife Lillie Brown-Luckey, Sister Grace Mae Luckey Dunn, Sister Betty Luckey Sherman, and Brother Neil Luckey.
Alvin leaves to cherish his memory his two sons Alvis (Connie) Luckey of Atlanta, GA, Kenneth Luckey of Gary, Indiana, one sister, Virda Luckey Buffington, McNeil, Arkansas, two brothers, Calvin Pace and Raymond Pace, McNeil, Arkansas, seven grandchildren; Alvis Jr. & Alan Luckey of Atlanta, GA, Taylor & Kenny Luckey Jr. of Columbus, GA, Kenya and Kenyata Denham of Merrillville, IN and Kenzie Kaylani Luckey of Atlanta, GA and one great-grandchild Alonza Luckey of Columbus, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
