Obituary

Ms. Betty Jo Sharp aged 73, died peacefully in her sleep early Sunday morning, on July 7, 2013, while with her daughter in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after a brief struggle with cancer.

Betty Jo was born December 18, 1939, in Magnolia, Arkansas, and was the oldest girl of nine children. She is preceded in death by her parents: K.P. and Naomi Beal Frazier; husband: Arthur Sharp, Sr.; two sisters: Vernell Jones and Annie Ree Simpson and one brother: DC Wyrick.

Betty Jo was always a bright and assertive youth who never shied away from adversity; she bulldozed right thru it and excelled! She attended Walker School and though not completing any formal education, Betty exceled at life and ultimately owning her own business until her retirement. She was admired and loved by all who knew her.

In 1961, Betty Jo met and married Arthur Sharp, Sr., and through that marriage of 30 years, Betty Jo would be blessed with the birth of six (6) children.

Ms. Sharp came to know the Lord personally and became an Evangelist, opening her home to those that needed prayer and encouragement. She was even one of the first women of color to broadcast from KVMA AM with an inspirational radio show, but to her, Betty Jo, greatest among her many accomplishments were her children.
She is survived by two daughters: Sharon Rene (Ellsworth) Best of Maryland and Kimberly Latoia (Corey) Pealer of Baton Rouge, LA; four sons: Craig Bernard (Yvette) Sharp of Magnolia, AR; Pastor Antoine (Latonia) Sharp of Atoka, TN; Joseph Denetric (Latresse) Sharp of Texarkana, TX and Arthur (Marquita) Sharp, Jr. of Magnolia, AR; eight grandchildren: Melanie Edmondson, Gregory and Christopher Eason, LaKenya and CJ Sharp, Monique and Taylor Sharp and Montavious Sharp; three(3) step-grandchildren: Makkia, Delquashia and Mondi; five (5) great grandchildren: Gregory Allen, Sebastian, Aria, Jude and Taylor. Four (4) brothers: Donell (Angela) Frazier and Leroy Strickland both of Milwaukee; Benjamin (Dorothy) Frazier of Magnolia, AR; and Wade Strickland, Jr. and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
