Ernestine Banks McCaskill was born on January 25, 1938 to the late Hosea and Lurlean Dawson Banks in Emerson, Arkansas. She departed this life on March 2, 2011 at 10:00 A.M., in the John R. Williamson Hospice Home
in El Dorado, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by both parents and her brother, John Alvin Banks.
Ernestine accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the New Hope Baptist Church in Emerson, Arkansas. She served as a
faithful member of the choir and usher board. She was also active in Sunday School.
She was united in Holy matrimony with Jiley McCaskill, Jr. on September 21, 1968.
Shortly after her marriage they moved to another location and she united with the
Homes Near Baptist Church of Magnolia, Arkansas. Years later, she and her husband joined
the Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her
health failed. She served on the Mother’s Board and the Missionary Society.
Ernestine was employed by the Magnolia Hospital, where she worked as a
nurse’s aide. She was later employed by Amfuel where she worked for years until she retired in 2003.
Ernestine was a member of the Eastern Star, Pride of ElDorado # 352, and she was a past matron of Esther Chapter # 337, Stephens, Arkansas.
She leaves a legacy of strength and endurance to: Husband, Jiley McCaskill, Jr. of Magnolia, AR; three aunts: Charity Banks Jones of Magnolia, Arkansas, Ruby Banks Murphy Hanson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Georgia Mae Banks of Los Angeles, CA; one nephew: Kenneth Wayne Banks of Omaha, Nebraska; three sisters-in-law: Barbara Jean McCaskill Livingston of Georgia,
Thelma McCaskill Randolph and Oscelethia McCaskill Roberson of Florida; and a host of relatives and friends.
