It was on July 22, 2011, a day after her birthday, surrounded by her family that she loved when God allowed Glenda Sue Grissom Palmer to rise above from her earthly pain to her heavenly gains.
Glenda Sue Grissom Palmer was born on July 21, 1949 in Magnolia, AR to the late Junious and Nealer Doss Grissom. She was the second child born of four siblings; two preceded her in death, Carol Ann and Gay Bertha.
She began her Christian journey at the early age of ten. She joined and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. J. A. Taylor at the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church (NZMBC). Sue had an explosive soprano voice and sang in the choir. She also served on the usher board at NZMBC and would use her spiritual gifts wherever needed. She later joined Southview Church of Christ where she remained faithful until death.
"Sue" as she was known at the Walker High School where her singing lessons began, graduated in May of 1968. After graduating from Walker, she attended Oil Belt Vo-Tech in El Dorado, AR and received her CNA and LPN certification. She continued her medical training and became a Coronary Nurse. She was employed at several facilities in Magnolia including Magnolia Hospital, Meador Brook, Magnolia Manor and Walker School as the school nurse. She also worked as a Coronary Nurse at Mt. Sinai Medical Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
On July 22, 2011, she departed this life at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR.
She leaves to cherish sweet memories: one daughter, Shelia Alexander of Magnolia, AR; two brothers, Junious Grissom, Jr. and Billy Ray Foster both of Magnolia, AR; two aunts, Lenora Faggett of Dallas, TX and Charity Glover of Magnolia, AR; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew, and a host of relatives and friends.
