Rev. Tyrone Skinner

At 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2016, God called Margree T. Jones home to join the man that she loved and married, Lemar Jones, Sr. Margree T. Jones was born on January 3, 1937 in Stephens, Arkansas to the late Jameson and Etterine Torrence. She was the fourth of sixteen children; five of her siblings preceded her in death. Margree married Lemar Jones on January 17, 1959; they were married 42 years before Lemar’s death. To that union, four children were born – Lemar Jr., Trudell, Margie Nell, and Veronica Jacqueline.

Margree professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Stephens, Arkansas. After her marriage to Lemar Jones, Margree joined the St. Stephens Baptist Church where she served until her health would no longer allow. Margree was a faithful usher, serving as St. Stephens and Columbia District President. She loved to attend the usher’s classes at the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education. Margree served as Announcing Clerk, Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Kitchen Committee, and Missionary Society, just to name a few.
She graduated from Carver High School and then attended Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. Through the years, Margree worked in the Stephens School System and Firestone Company in Magnolia, AR. In 1972, Margree became co-owner of Lemargree’s Grocery and Station from which she retired.

Cherishing her memory and embracing her legacy are her children–one Son: Lemar Jones, Jr (Marty) of Ashburn, VA; three Daughters: Trudell Skinner (Tyrone) of Altadena, CA; Margie Nell Hardy (Dennis) of Garland, TX; and Veronica Jacqueline Lewis (Demetrius) of Garland, TX; eight Grandchildren: Latifa (James), Lemar III, Jocqueline (JJ), Madison, Tyler, Trinity, Cameron, and Micaela; eight great grandchildren: Jasmine, James, Payton, Kynadee, Ashton, Demarcus, J’La, and Darian.
