Obituary for Abberteen Williams Lewis, Mt. Holly, Arkansas
Abberteen Williams Lewis, age 97, peacefully entered into eternal rest on April 8th, 2026. Born on October 18th, 1928, in Mt. Holly to James and Bertha Williams, she lived a life rich with love, service, and dedication to her family and community.
Abberteen was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, known for her selflessness and commitment to serving others. Throughout her life, she made a profound impact on her community as a caregiver, Sunday school teacher, and member of the usher board and women’s mission committee. Her love for music shined brightly as she sang in the church choir and shared her joy with those around her throughout her lifetime. She made a significant difference in the lives of her students as a school teacher and active PTA member. She was also known for her delightful talent of giving creative and affectionate nicknames to those near and dear to her, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to be apart of her life.
A proud graduate of Arkansas Baptist College, she attended on a basketball scholarship, demonstrating her passion for the sport and her commitment to fostering community spirit. Her fond memories included farming, and picking cotton; an experience that reflected her family's legacy, as her father owned land that provided jobs for many in the community.
She was a woman of unwavering faith, often reminding everyone she met to “Put your trust and faith in the Lord.” This guiding principle defined her life and inspired those around her.
Abberteen is lovingly remembered by her children, LTC Albert Easter, USA (Ret) (Effie), Margaret Lewis Mallory (U.S. Army) Adrienna Benton (Ira), and Willie Melons (Betty).
