Lawrence Hamilton Obituary

Lawrence “LT” Hamilton was born Tuesday, October 24, 1961, in Bowie County, Texas.
Lawrence passed away and drifted into the arms of a special angel sent by God on Wednesday,
June 12, 2024.
Lawrence came into this wonderful existence to his parents, Artis Lee Hamilton and Milrene
“Allen” Hamilton. He held the title of being their eldest offspring. During his time residing in the
family residence, Lawrence went to Highland Park Elementary School, Pine Street Junior High,
and completed his education in 1980 from Texas High School. Lawrence joined the New Town
Baptist Church in Texarkana at a young age. He enjoyed going to Sunday School, Baptist Training
Union and other church services.
After finishing his high school education, Lawrence attended Grambling State University. After
returning to Texarkana, he worked several years at Montgomery Wards before securing a job with
the Federal Bureau of Prisons at FCI Texarkana. He started his career as a Correctional Officer
before promoted to a Counselor. Throughout his tenure at FCI, he made a significant impact on
numerous individuals. He has been recognized with several awards for surpassing the call of duty,
with one of them being Rookie Correctional Officer of the year. He was so devoted to his passion
he was able to recite inmate prison numbers from memory. He always had a “thing” with numbers
early on in life. His career spanned from November 3, 1991, to December 31, 2017, when he
retired with pride.
Lawrence was deeply passionate about sports and was able to quote both baseball and football
stats of players respectively. He was intentional with his attendance to every football game of
Texas Senior School, both locally and away. He had been a season ticket holder for years until
his health began to deteriorate. Lawrence was a devoted supporter of the Dallas Cowboys. He
could spend the entire duration of a game engrossed in texting and conversing with our
Sister/Cousin, Sharinecia “Toni” Davis. Lawrence also had a talent for baseball. He actively
participated as an outfield player for the Central Superstars. Lawrence dedicated his time to
coaching a little league team named Ace Movers alongside his cousin Paul Davis. He coached his
younger sister “Shay” on how to excel in softball. He would often take her to the backyard and
throw challenging balls, which she would skillfully catch.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, Artis Lee Hamilton; mother, Milrene “Allen”
Hamilton; grandmother, Georgia Sutton; special aunt, Ezell Lavan; uncles, A.J. Allen, Rev. Dr. James
S. Allen, and Julius Caesar Allen; and a special cousin, Yarketha Shrelle Lavan. He leaves
to celebrate his life and mourn his passing and one sister, Shalondia “Shay” Hamilton and one
brother, Kenneth “Lamp” Lampkins; one sister/cousin, Sharinecia “Toni” Davis (Paul);
brother/cousin, Maquan “Tayquan” Lavan; special uncle, Walter U. Allen Jr. (Julia); and a special
friend, Tiffany Owens and her son Caden Owens; along with a host of cousins, other relatives,
and friends, including Scotty Wingfield, Randy Haskins & Gerald Walton (The Football Analysis
Crew).

Funeral service will be at the St. Paul Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas. Rev. Kenneth Allen will be the Eulogist. Interment will be at the Chapelwood Cemetery in Nash, Texas.
