Opal (Dunn) Davis

Opal J. Dunn-Davis was born on August 15, 1954, in Magnolia, Arkansas, to the late Calvin Jr. and Gracie Dunn.

She graduated from Magnolia High School as a member of the Class of 1972. Shortly after graduation, Opal united in holy matrimony with Claude Davis. Together, they raised two sons and four daughters, who remained the center of her love and devotion throughout her life.

In 1980, Opal followed her passion for nurturing and educating children by earning her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from El Paso Community College. She went on to dedicate nearly 20 years to the El Paso Independent School District, where she touched the lives of countless children. Even after retiring, her love for children never faded. She continued working in daycare centers in several states, including Texas, Florida, and eventually her hometown of Magnolia, Arkansas, where she faithfully cared for children until her health no longer allowed her to continue.

Opal was known for her kind heart, playful spirit, and unwavering love for her family and those around her. She had a special gift for making people feel seen, supported, and loved. Whether someone needed encouragement during difficult times, a listening ear, or a helping hand, Opal was always willing to be there.

Her love extended far beyond words. She played an active role in helping raise her grandchildren, pouring into their lives with wisdom, patience, laughter, and unconditional love. While she was a devoted mother and grandmother to her own family, many others lovingly came to know her as a second mother because of the care, guidance, and compassion she freely gave. She never hesitated to give of herself, often giving her last to help someone in need.

Even while courageously battling cancer, Opal refused to let her circumstances define her. She remained strong in spirit, continuing to smile and encourage others despite the challenges she faced. Her resilience, compassion, and unwavering faith inspired everyone who knew her.

Opal leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, strength, and selflessness that will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and the countless lives she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, kindness, and beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
