Born on January 17, 1947, to the late James Green (Susie Mae Green). Mrs. Pearl lived a life of
love, faith, and dedication to her family and community. She was a devoted wife for over 61
years, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and a beloved sister,
aunt, and friend to many. She worked for the Walker School district for over 30 years before
she retired.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Green and her sister Mae Sue Grissom.
She is survived by her loving husband, John L. Tarkington; three children: Michael Wayne
Tarkington (Lisia) of Mansfield, TX, John Wayne Tarkington (Dionne) of Knoxville, TN, Kim
Yvette Tarkington of Magnolia, AR and Bonus daughter/niece Kimberly Harper of Magnolia,
Arkansas.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Phillip Tarkington,
Ashia Smith(Davonte), Desmond Tarkington(Lizet) and her great-grandchild, Marcelo
Tarkington.
She is also survived by her dear mother, Susie Mae Green; her sisters: twin sister, Jean
Manning and Francis Gilbert both of Magnolia; and her brothers: Claude Green and Ricky
Green (Denise), also of Magnolia. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended
family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11:00am, at New Zion Baptist
Church, Hwy 19 South, Magnolia, Arkansas.
Public Viewing will take place on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Marks Funeral Home, 1392 S.
Jackson Magnolia, Arkansas from 5pm to 7pm.
Mrs. Pearl will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kind spirit, her great
meals especially her hot water corn bread and her love for fishing. Her memory will live on in
the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Pastor Dwayne Thompson will be the eulogist.
