Shirley Temple (Broomfield) Paschal

A Life of Faith, Family, Love & Service Shirley Temple Broomfield Paschal was born on August 2, 1940, to Henry and Ola (Buffington) Broomfield. She was the 16th of 18 children, growing up in a large and loving family that helped shape the woman she would become. On June 19, 1959, Shirley was united in marriage to the love of her life, Pastor James Calvin Paschal. Together, they shared 50 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, family, love, and service to others. Their union was blessed with three children: Cynthia LaGail Alexander James Earl Paschal, and Andrew J. Paschal. Shirley’s greatest joy was her family. She took great pride in her children and cherished the time she spent with those she loved. Her warmth, strength, laughter, and loving spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Cynthia LaGail Alexander (Pastor James “Deon” Alexander) and Andrew J. Paschal; her sisters, Mazolia Douglas and Annie Banks; her brother, Franklin “Jimmy” Broomfield (Eria); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and loved ones. Those Who Preceded Her in Death Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ola (Buffington) Broomfield; her beloved husband, Pastor James Calvin Paschal; her son, James Earl Paschal; her brothers, Herschel Broomfield, Peter Broomfield, Doris “Doyle” Broomfield, and Johnny Rufus “Jack” Broomfield; and her sisters, Little Sister Broomfield, Lurenda Shaw, Earline Henderson, Queenesta Broomfield, Vesta Walker, Modesta Adair, Gracie Greer, Mattie West, and Ethel Harris. Though Shirley’s earthly journey has come to an end, her love, laughter, faith, and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy is one of faith, family, strength, love, laughter, and service—a legacy that will continue to live on through the lives she touched.
