Velma Ree Brent, lovingly known as “Rebe,” passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, in
Avondale, Arizona, at the age of 82. Born on April 16, 1943, in McNeil, Arkansas, Rebe lived a
full and beautiful life marked by faith, hard work, and an unshakable love for her family. Rebe
was a woman of grace and strength who never met a flower she didn’t love or a person she
couldn’t make smile. Her joy for gardening and devotion to her church reflected her caring
heart and deep faith. She graduated from McNeil High School and later attended Beacon Life
Beauty School, where she became a licensed beautician — a career that perfectly matched
her creative spirit and eye for beauty. In 1963, she married Solon Hunter, and later in 1994,
she found love again and married Jerry Brent. Over the years, Rebe’s kindness, warmth, and
laughter touched everyone around her. She retired after 17 dedicated years at ATK in
Clearfield, Utah, where her strong work ethic and positive spirit left a lasting impression on all
who knew her. A faithful servant, Rebe served for many years as an usher at Second Baptist
Church in Ogden, Utah. Her presence there, as in life, was always steady, welcoming, and
filled with love. She is survived by her children Ronald Bynum (Angela) of McNeil, Arkansas,
and Latrece Macon of Avondale, Arizona; her daughter-in-law Ethel (Tracy) Hunter of
Houston, Texas; her sister Eva House of Dallas, Texas; and her brother Lonnie Jackson Jr. of
Magnolia, Arkansas. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren — Latrice, Cecely,
Mario, Patrece, Jordan, Brandon, and Petra — along with many great-grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, and loved ones who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts. Rebe is
preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Mary Jackson; her son, Tracy Hunter; brothers
Travis and Thurman Jackson; sisters Willie Mae Green and Ever Jean Hughey; and her
beloved granddaughter, Vicky Bynum. Velma Ree “Rebe” Brent will forever be remembered
for her loving heart, her faith in God, and the beauty she brought into the lives of everyone
who knew her. Her legacy lives on in her family and in all the lives she so gently touched.
